Week in review

The Week In Review is a snapshot and “one stop shop” of articles we’ve written during the week and other content we’ve found interesting and come across on the internet. The topics will vary but generally should have some linkage and relevance to what we discuss. Perspective and knowledge can provide some wonderful insights and inspiration. Hope you enjoy the spin!

Friday: Rules Not to Follow on a First “Date”

Monday: 4 Random Things We Did This Weekend

Stuff we found interesting on the web:

  1. Warren Buffet said he can’t beat the S&P 500 – If the Oracle of Omaha says he can’t do it then perhaps index funds are the path to success. There’s a ton of content written on this subject matter. This just might validate it.
  2. Fees are coming down on some Vanguard funds – (subscription required to read full article). Just know fees are coming down on 10 Vanguard ETF’s for all you savy investors out there!
  3. Some people are still hesitant to invest in the stock market – Despite a ten year bull run apparently people are still skeptical or don’t want to take the plunge. Of course there is risk but you have to grow your wealth somehow. Even if you don’t “lose” money there is this nasty thing called inflation. That erodes purchasing power, so you actually are losing.
  4. Car ownership might be a thing of the past – If this isn’t some foreshadowing I don’t know what is. Definitely could be a game changer on a lot of fronts. If you eliminate or substantially reduce these costs your wealth building tools just increased exponentially. Maybe Mr. Money Mustache was on to something.
  5. This dude wants to die at 75 – That’s an interesting perspective and perhaps compelling case. Not sure I want to sign up for that philosophy just yet but those seeking FIRE might see the impact in some form or fashion (both the pros and the cons).
  6. After months of anticipation Southwest finally made Hawaii a reality – These 10 things are something to take note of. And Hawaii is special to us because that is where we got married. Game changer, enough said.

And with that – here’s to a great weekend!
