Passion
Passion. Struggling with that word lately.  It can have all sorts of meanings and interruptions.  What does it mean?  How do you look for it?  Does it find you?  These are the slew of questions I’ve been asking myself lately.
As Mr. Spender and myself continue to work towards financial independence, this concept is becoming more and more something I think about and often.  Albeit, independence for us doesn’t mean we stop working, it means that we can hang up the corporate hats and hopefully some of the stress that goes with those jigs.  No more tied to a computer or a sales quota every month.  It means we still need to continue to work in some capacity, with the idea of fewer hours and hopefully less stress, and hopefully something we’re each more passionate about.
So now we’re back to PASSION.  What does that mean for ME, specifically, as we work towards this goal.  It’s a reality as you can tell I’m struggling with a bit, actually a lot. Am I struggling because I feel lost in figuring it out?  Or maybe I know what I’m passionate about and I just need to look a little deeper.   At 37 years old I should know what my passions are, right??  Or should I not?
ideas
These are some of the ideas that have crossed my mind:
  •  I would love to volunteer more.  Gain a deeper sense of gratitude for my blessings and to help others.   But then my mind goes adrift.  What sort of volunteer work am I passionate about?
  • Do I spend more time at my son’s school?  Become a very active PTA mom, something I never saw myself becoming until I became a mom.
  • Do I find a new hobby?  Painting, sculpting, a sport something more tangible.
  • Start my own business.  I kinda have in one facet, even though it hasn’t taken off just yet.  However, local food tours are something I’ve always dreamt about.
Qualifications
Below are things I’ve identified that I love and have for quite some time, so nothing new:
  • Being outdoors.  Hiking, biking, walking, exploring.
  • Traveling locally, domestically, and internationally
  • Cooking. Love trying new recipes and ingredients.
  • Time with family, and friends that feel like family.
I want to share this evolution of passion in my life, and hopefully hear some of your stories.  Either of those who have embarked on this exercise before or those who know exactly what their passions already are and follow them.  I want to hear it!
